LOW-TEMPERATURE SUPERCRITICAL CONVERSION OF KUKERSITE OIL SHALE; 171–178

Abstract

The thermal decomposition of Estonian Kukersite oil shale under supercritical conditions was carried out using a continuous flow tubular reactor. The effects of the retorting times of 0, 30, 60 and 120 minutes on the yield of thermobitumen (TB), solid residue, oil, gas, coke and undecomposed kerogen at temperatures of 390 °C and 420 °C were investigated. The maximum yield of organics was 93.8% by using the benzene solvent at 420 °C. The influence of physicochemical factors on the efficiency of liquefaction under supercritical conditions was studied. The reaction con­ditions and solvent for maximum extraction were established.
