Abstract

Thermocouples are the most widely used electrical sensors in almost all temperature measurement applications in industry and research. Different types of thermocouples and calibration methods are described. Novel metal-carbon eutectic fixed points, usable for improved calibrations of thermocouples, and first results of their application at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt are presented.
